1946-1947 were years of transformation for many of the citizens of
Clifton Forge, Virginia. Young men were returning from World War II
while other young men were leaving to join the Occupation Forces in
Japan and Europe. This book is a compilation of original letters
written to my uncle, Paul Patterson, from his mother and father,
Lavier and Edna Patterson, while he was serving in the Occupation
Forces in Japan. They share the happenings in the family as well as
the citizenry of Clifton Forge including births, deaths, marriages
and homecomings.
